Future STEM

STEMalive! was an exciting partnership between myself and educational charity, SATRO, to create events which inspired and energised young people about science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).

Inspiring Future Scientists & Engineers

Each event STEMalive! was a cross-generational experience bringing together world-class STEM professionals with young people and their parents. Events created a supportive environment where everyone could learn from each other and be inspired by real career stories and insights from the world of science, technology, engineering and maths.

Students Said…

“I was surprised by the amount of different opportunities there are within engineering. I enjoyed talking to people from so many different backgrounds. I was surprised how much I found out about different careers in such a short space of time”.

“I feel that the speakers gave amazing career advice – the saying yes, and going into new fields. I came in having hardly any knowledge on what engineering is and the fact that you made us question instead of give us answers is an amazing skill to learn – to ask before you receive”.

“I learnt there are different areas out there I hadn’t heard of before so there’s a whole world out there”.

“I learnt a lot about the wide career choice if you study science”.

“I was surprised how most people ended up in their jobs”.

“I enjoyed being able to talk directly to real experts about the field they work in”.

Our Speakers Said…

“I was delighted to get the opportunity to talk about my career at the STEMalive! event. To have an audience of students and parents, as well as many other talented engineers, is a great platform and I know they each took something different away from the presentations as I had conversations with members of all three groups afterwards. It was very satisfying to be able to speak to parents and students who were interested in mechanical and automotive engineering, and discuss both university and apprenticeship routes into engineering. An excellent event that I would be happy to support again”.

“I think STEMalive! is a great way of making students aware of the various types of jobs available through STEM. Each speaker shared a variety of roles and ‘ignite-style’ presentation was an interesting way of interacting with the audience. Who knew you could say so much in 15secs! The students (and parents) were keen to know the options available and were very engaged during the event. From my interactions with the students they seemed more aware of the different degrees and job opportunities available via STEM. STEMalive! is definitely worthwhile!”
