A Poem to Kick-off 2024

Happy 2024, everyone!

Here’s a little ditty to get 2024 started.

Are you boosted by the new year?
Or do you feel the same?
And is the promise of re-birth
A smoke-and-mirrors game?

Well, last year had its upsides
Plus its challenges too.
And you can bet a shiny dollar
It’ll happen in the new.

There is a choice on offer.
As simple as can be.
Though putting it in action
Isn’t always that easy.

Decide when bad stuff happens
To take it with good grace.
Stop thinking of your challenges
As a slap around the face.

You might be angry or worried
Or sad or taken aback.
This is quite normal and human
So give yourself some slack.

Then try and release this tension;
Be pragmatic and be kind.
Take a moment to re-centre;
To breath and clear your mind.

Not everything is perfect.
Not everyone’s on your side.
Life may be a bit messy
But it can be a hell of a ride!
