Why is Craig one of my Diamond Dozen?
Many years ago as a fresh-ish faced postgraduate, I started my first corporate role working for Freudenberg Nonwovens and it was there that I met Craig. He taught me a lot and helped launch my career. His approach to life, business and leadership have made a positive and lasting impression on me. I suppose he might even be the godfather of my Creative Enabler description. As such my Diamond Dozen would have not been the same without him.
My description of Craig in six words…
Healthcare hero. Creativity and caring personified.
After studying chemistry at Bradford University, Craig undertook two periods of industrial training at The International Wool Secretariat. Courtesy of IWS, he was funded to do a PhD in wool chemistry, and once completed, he worked at the British Textiles Technology Group, now The Shirley Institute. His four years experience showed him that medical products was the sector for him and he became a “Scientist” in research and development at Johnson and Johnson Medical.
Eight happy years later he moved to Freudenberg Nonwovens Ltd becoming head of the Adsorptive Products Group. Following a successful period as an independent consultant he founded the medical devices company, Focus Product Developments.
Focus can lay claim to many successes including the development of a novel range of pressure ulcer prevention products under the brand name Aderma and a range of hydrocolloid products for use by ostomates under the brand name Astoa. Both ranges were sold to third parties for ongoing development and further new and novel products are in the pipeline.
