Why is Sarah one of my Diamond Dozen?
Since I first met Sarah her career path has changed and evolved; from employment and senior management to ecology entrepreneur. Whatever she does she is hungry to learn and continually assesses impact on individuals and organisations. A winning mix considering the cross-sector nature of her start-up venture. Sarah’s curiosity and people skills make her a true Creative Enabler and definitely one my Diamond Dozen.
My description of Sarah in six words…
Thoughtful game-changer. Raising standards in ecology.
An ecologist and business-woman, with over 16 years’ experience in ecological consultancy, Sarah spent the latter part of her career as Principal Consultant and Management Board member at The Ecology Consultancy (TEC), responsible for Training and Thought Leadership portfolios. She has successfully launched various intrapreneurial initiatives most recently establishing TEC’s Professional Series (expert-led training for ecologists); building on her passion for knowledge sharing, showcasing in-house talent and creating new business-streams. She feels privileged to have led teams of dedicated ecologists.
In 2014, she embarked upon an Executive MBA, and a subsequent move to the US facilitated her ambition to found a new, innovative ecological start-up. Sarah has many career highlights which include growing a successful track record as an Expert Witness:
- Teaching the Ecology Module: Greenwich University’s Landscape Architecture Degree
- Discovering a new British record during PhD research with the Freshwater Habitats Trust (whilst informing Syngenta’s mesocosm design and conservation practices).
- Rehabilitating bats with Sussex Bat Hospitals.
- Authoring ecological impact assessments for London’s 2012 Olympics award-winning schemes, such as Isle of Sheppey Crossover)
